PET Scan
A positron emission tomography or PET scan is an imaging technique that evaluates tissue activity. It searches for signs of metastases in all parts of the body. Results can also help differentiate cancer from scar tissue. In this procedure, a physician will inject radioactive sugar into your bloodstream. It is completed once the body cells absorb all of the sugar. Cancer cells, which grow more actively, tend to light up on the image. A PET scan is often combined with a CT scan to diagnose ovarian cancer. [5]
