What Is Dysmenorrhea?
Dysmenorrhea is a medical term for menstrual cramps. They are characterized by a dull and throbbing pain in the lower abdomen, which would happen every month before or during the usual menstrual period. It occurs when the uterus contracts to shed the lining. Dysmenorrhea can be divided into two forms: primary dysmenorrhea results from recurrent pain and secondary dysmenorrhea results from a disorder in the reproductive system. Both types could be treated. [1]
