How Erythema Nodosum Is Connected to IBD

Signs and Symptoms of Erythema Nodosum

When erythema nodosum occurs, you will notice the development of lesions on the skin, which would be preceded by joint pain and a flu-like sensation. These lumps tend to first show up as red, tender nodules, which gradually become painful and hard in the first week. They may also look blue and black or bluish and feel as though they consist of fluids in the next week. Before healing, the erythema nodosum may slowly turn yellow. On average, these lesions may last for around 2 weeks, but new ones would appear to replace them. [5]
