How Does Acute Myeloid Leukemia Affect Your Skin?

Vasculitis

Vasculitis is a medical condition that leads to inflamed capillaries and small blood vessels. People with leukemia or other diseases that weaken the immune system may be at a higher risk of developing leukocytoclastic vasculitis. Typical signs include dark or purple patches on the skin, which would feel different to touch than the surrounding areas. The diameter of the patches may be between 1 and 100 mm. Vasculitis may also cause crusted ulcers, nodules, bullae, pustules, body pain, or a low-grade fever. [4]
