Causes of Hormonal Imbalance
A hormonal imbalance can be caused by many reasons, which can vary. This depends on the affected glands and hormones. Common causes include the use of medications, hormone therapy, trauma, injury, stress, eating disorders, pituitary tumors, benign or cancerous tumors, and cancer treatments. Some conditions initially triggered by a hormonal imbalance might worsen hormonal imbalances. These include diabetes, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis, hyperfunctioning thyroid nodules, Addison’s disease, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, Cushing syndrome, and hypogonadism. [7]
Hormonal Imbalance Diagnosis
There is no comprehensive test for diagnosing a hormonal imbalance. A doctor tends to start with a physical exam to look for typical signs and symptoms. Depending on the initial diagnosis, some takes can be done to confirm, such as a blood test, pelvic exam, ultrasound, biopsy, MRI, X-ray, sperm count test, or thyroid scan. You can also a testing kit to do a test at home. [8]
