Pregnancy Complications
If you are pregnant while being infected with German measles, it might cause some complications and pass the virus to your developing fetus. When this occurs, there is a chance of stillbirth, miscarriage, or serious birth defects like cataracts, deafness, spleen or liver damage, developmental or intellectual disability, or heart defects. In fact, German measles during pregnancy is a common cause of deaf newborns. Thus, make sure to get vaccinated well before getting pregnant. [6]
