Epinephrine
Epinephrine is a medication that can be used for treating people with difficulty breathing or heavy breathing caused by croup. It works by alleviating inflammation and swelling in the airways. Also, the drug can relax irritated muscles in the respiratory system and make it easier to breathe. Epinephrine can be taken in an inhaled form with a nebulizer. Compared to steroids, it is much quicker to get the effects. However, the relief only lasts a few hours before another dose is necessary. Steroids can be injected at the same time to improve severe cases.[6]
