Common Triggers of Restless Leg Syndrome

Kidney Disease

Restless legs syndrome is a very common problem in those people with end-stage renal disease, also known as end-stage kidney disease. This is especially true for those who depend on dialysis. The risk can range from 6 percent up to 62 percent. It is still unknown which might be the contributing factor to restless legs syndrome in this group. Scientists believe that it would be related to a deficiency of iron or anemia. In some cases, anemia treatments like an iron replacement or erythropoietin therapy have been proved effective.[8]
