Stages of a Prolapsed Uterus
As said above, uterine prolapse can be divided into complete or incomplete. This is based on the severity and how far the uterus is descended. More especially, there are 4 stages:
– Stage 1: The uterus is descended to the upper vagina
– Stage 2: The uterus is descended to the introitus
– Stage 3: The cervix is descended out of the introitus
– Stage 4: The uterus and cervix are both descended out of the introitus
In the early stages, exercises can help. However, more serious cases might require surgery. [2]
Symptoms of a Prolapsed Uterus
When a prolapsed uterus is minor, no symptoms might appear. In more serious cases, possible signs include vaginal bleeding, issues with sexual intercourse, increased discharge, trouble passing stool, constipation, a heavy or pulling feeling in the pelvis, the cervix or uterus protruding out of the vagina, difficulty emptying the bladder, or recurring bladder infections. Make sure to inform your doctor as soon as you notice any of these symptoms. Early treatment is important to prevent possible complications in the future.[3]
