Causes and Effects of a Prolapsed Uterus

What Is a Prolapsed Uterus?

The womb or uterus is a muscular part of the body that is held in place by ligaments and pelvic muscles. When these ligaments or muscles become weak or stretch, they are unable to support your uterus. This leads to a prolapsed uterus. This health issue occurs when the uterus slips or sags into the vagina from the usual position. A uterine prolapse might be complete or incomplete. A complete prolapse means the uterus sags so far that causes some tissue to protrude outside of the vagina. An incomplete prolapse means only a part of the uterus sags into the vagina. [1]
