Blood Clot in Leg Treatment & Causes

Birth Control Pills

Some studies have shown that people who take birth control pills may be at a higher risk of developing blood clot in legs. However, not all of these drugs pose the same risk. Medications that contain drospirenone and desogestrel, which are progestin hormones, are more likely to trigger blood clots than others. These include Safyral, Beyaz, Yasmin, and Yaz. It is necessary to note that the overall risk is quite low. If you have a family history of the condition, make sure to consult your doctor before taking birth control pills to reduce the risk. [4]
