Other Risk Factors
People of all age groups could have Achilles tendinitis. However, this problem is more common in middle-aged people. Jobs that involve vibration, forceful exertion, frequent overhead reaching, awkward positions, or repetitive movements would also inflame the Achilles tendon. Environmental factors include working out in cold conditions or running on hilly areas. Playing the following sports would increase the risk: bowling, basketball, baseball, running, golf, tennis, or swimming. Lastly, certain drugs and medications would make you more susceptible, such as quinolone antibiotics. [10]
