Antihypertensive Drugs
Medications can also be used to combat high blood pressure. We have several classes of antihypertensive drugs available and these drugs differ in abilities, side effects and cost. When choosing a hypertensive drug, the first goal to have in mind is combating the endpoint of the disease which can be a heart attack, heart failure or stroke. Also, the patient’s age comes to play a significant role when deciding which drugs to purchase. Just to mention a few, some of the antihypertensive drugs that are popularly used are Vasodilators, Renin inhibitors, Alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonists, Endothelium receptor blockers, etc.[9]
