Sugary Foods and Beverages

Sugary foods and beverages should be avoided. We consume foods that contain way more sugar than we think and we do not even know it. Foods containing a high level of sugar are high in fat, including saturated fat, sugar and salt. Foods high in sugar are low-fat yogurt, BBQ sauce, ketchup, fruit juice, and spaghetti sauce. Sweetened beverages like sports drinks, chocolate milk, are also high in sugar. These foods also release purine into the body which is broken down into uric acid, and the accumulation of this acid leads to inflammation of the joints.[6]
