Foods containing tyramine like red wine, aged cheeses, alcoholic beverages, and processed meats are huge triggers of migraine headaches. Tyramine is found naturally in these foods, and it is formed from the breakdown of proteins in foods as they age. Food additives like nitrates and nitrites found in hot dogs, sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ham, etc. also cause migraine headache by widening blood vessels.[2]
