10 Causes of Anemia You Need to Know

Exposure to Toxic Chemicals

There is a type of anemia called aplastic anemia. This type is caused by exposure to toxic chemicals.

The formation of the red blood cells takes place in the bone marrow a red spongy material inside your bones. When this bone marrow is destroyed, the formation of red blood cells becomes difficult.

Exposing yourself to toxic chemicals used in pesticides and insecticides can permanently or temporarily cause your bone marrow to be damaged. Also, when you expose yourself to benzene – an ingredient used in gasoline – you put your bone marrow in danger and increase your risk of getting anemia.[5]

This type of anemia can go away on its own if you avoid the causes.
