The Link Between Social Anxiety and Depression
Studies have suggested that there is a close link between having social anxiety and developing depression in later phases in life. In addition, the generalized form of social anxiety is related to a higher risk of occurrence with alcohol abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, and major depressive disorder. Although both conditions are not the same, they would happen at the same time and result in many health issues. Recent research has found that up to 70 percent of patients reported both conditions at the same time. In these cases, social anxiety tends to precede depression. [3]
