Side Effects of Trintellix – What to Know

Trintellix and Suicidal Behaviors or Thoughts in Children

The FDA issues a boxed warning that the Trintellix may increase the risk of suicidal behaviors and thoughts in young adults or children. It is important to know that this is the most serious warning issued by this agency. Patients and doctors need to be aware of these affects to make an informed decision. The risk is especially highest in the first several months of taking the drugs or when you change the dosage. Common signs of these suicidal thoughts include:

– Behavior or mood changes

– Worsening or new panic attacks or depression

– Dangerous thoughts or impulses

– Irritable, angry, or agitated

– Attempts or thoughts to end your life

For these reasons, Trintellix is currently only approved for use in adults. [5]
