Pineal Gland DMT – What to Know

1What Is Pineal Gland?

The pineal gland is a small organ in the endocrine system. It lies in a fluid-filled region on the back area of the third cerebral ventricle in the brain. In other words, it is located in between the two parts of the brain. A typical pineal gland in adults is around 0.1g in weight and 5 to 9 mm in length. Nevertheless, it is typically bigger before puberty. [1]

Pineal Gland Function

The function of the pineal gland is not fully understood. Nevertheless, scientists have found out that it plays an important part in controlling sexual maturation and female reproduction. The organ also helps control circadian rhythms, which affects when we sleep and wake up. More specifically, the pinealocytes release melatonin. This is known as the sleep hormone that helps us sleep well at night. In addition, melatonin is responsible for regulating other reproductive hormones in women. [2]
