Common Uses of Myrrh
Topical Use
Myrrh oil is mostly applied topically. Keep in mind to dilute it with a carrier oil to prevent skin irritation and quick evaporation. Some common carrier oils include coconut oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, or jojoba oil. The recommended ratio for adults is 5 milliliters of carrier oil for 3 to 6 drops of myrrh oil. This can create a 2 to 4-percent dilution. The recommended ratio for children is 5 milliliters of carrier oil for 1 drop of myrrh oil, which is equivalent to a 1 percent dilution. Also, you would use myrrh oil with a moisturizer or unscented lotion before applying to the skin for massage. Avoid using this product for sensitive parts like inner ears or eyes because it would lead to irritation. [8]
