Benefits and Risks of Inversion Therapy

Methods and Devices Used in Inversion Therapy

Inversion Chair

Using an inversion chair requires that you sit in a chair for this purpose, with head below the level of the heels. The inversion chair is said to have the advantage of not straining at one’s lower joints in the legs and feet, while still stretching the spine. Sitting in a chair also has positive points of equalizing blood pressures and ensuring comfort.

Inversion Tables

Though this popular, it is not the most effective. Also, experts don’t find them really helpful for the purpose of easing back pain. Most people purchase the type that would be convenient as a piece of exercise equipment too (for perhaps ab crunches and torso rotation). In using an inversion table, one is expected to stand with their feet in the air, and their backs on the table.

Gravity Boots

These heavy-duty ankle straps are designed to function with other inversion devices such as the inversion table. Some people dislike it, claiming that it feels quite aggressive.

Alternatives

Inversion positions can be attained through certain yoga poses. These include plow pose, standing on your hands, standing on your shoulders, and standing on your head. [2]
