8 Facts of BRAT Diet

Foods in the BRAT Diet

Despite the name, a BRAT diet would include more foods other than toast, rice, applesauce, and bananas. The key is to consume bland foods that provide gentle effects on your stomach. In addition, they should be low in fiber and fat to help firm up the stools, thus stopping diarrhea. Several common options include boiled potatoes, broth, flat soda, apple juice, weak tea, cooked cereals, or crackers. At the same time, avoid the following foods: raw vegetables, steak, salmon, pork, fried foods, dairy products, alcoholic drinks, caffeinated beverages, and some fruits like apples, oranges, and pineapples.
