Cold Therapy
Ice therapy can alleviate pain and inflammation caused by occipital neuralgia. Simply place an ice pack or cold bag under the base of the skull. Lie down if necessary. Always have a barrier between your skin and ice, such as a towel or plastic bag. Otherwise, direct cold can cause skin burns or frostbites. For the same reason, avoid applying the cold for more than 20 minutes each time. If you have diabetes or poor blood circulation, it is better to find another option. [2]
