Joint Injury
An injury to the shoulder area might trigger collarbone pain. The separation of AC or acromioclavicular joint is a common cause. This means the ligaments, which keep bones in place and stabilize joints, are torn. A direct blow or fall is often the main reason for AC joint injuries. A mild case would cause some pain, but a more severe tear might put your collarbone out of place. In addition to tenderness and pain, there might be a bulge developing above the shoulder. Many treatment options are available, such as applying ice packs, resting, wearing a brace to stabilize joints, and surgery in serious cases to repair the tear. [3]
