What to Do If Your Child Is Constipated

Limiting Triggers

Some foods may trigger constipation in both children and adults. Try to reduce your kid’s intake of dairy products, such as milk, cheese, or yogurt, as these food may result in this health issue. Dairy products may also cause anemia, which make them less hungry for veggies and fruits, thus worsening the symptoms. If your children are constipated, it is also better to avoid bananas, potatoes, squash, and carrots due to a high starch content. Lastly, highly-processed products that are high in salt, sugar, and fat, but low in fiber should be avoided as these may increase the risk. Consuming these foods too much would make your children feel full, thus reducing intake of healthier and high-fiber foods.[5]
