Other Adrenal Gland Disorders
In addition to adrenal fatigue, some other medical conditions may affect the adrenal glands. These include:
– Addison’s disease: It occurs when the adrenal glands do not release sufficient cortisol, aldosterone, mineralocorticoid, and glucocorticoid.
– Adrenal tumors, including pheochromocytoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and adrenal adenoma.
– Cushing’s disease: The condition is caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland, which increases cortisol levels released by the adrenal glands.
– Hypoaldosteronism: This disease occurs when the adrenal glands release too little aldosterone, resulting in low blood pressure, excessive potassium and reduced sodium levels.
– Hyperaldosteronism: Opposite to hypoaldosteronism, this condition occurs when the adrenal glands release too much aldosterone, which cause high levels of hydrogen ions, potassium, sodium, and high blood pressure. [9]
