Causes
A silent heart attack usually happens when there is an atherosclerotic plaque in the coronary artery rupture. This leads to the forming of a blood clot in the artery, which subsequently causes an acute blockage. Over time, the heart muscles supplied by the affected artery would become starved for oxygen. This causes some typical problems like chest pain. Some major risk factors for a silent heart attack include diabetes, obesity, aging, a family history of heart attacks, high blood cholesterol, smoking, as well as high blood pressure. [3]
