Achondroplasia
Achondroplasia is a special type of bone growth that leads to disproportionate dwarfism. This condition typically causes a short stature with short limbs and normal-sized torsos in many adults. During the early phases of fetal development, cartilage is the main component of the skeleton. Nevertheless, achondroplasia prevents it from converting to the bone. Genetic mutations are the main cause. In addition to spinal stenosis, the condition can also lead to other health issues, such as hydrocephalus, apnea, or reduced muscle tone. Some typical symptoms include obesity, difficulty bending the elbows, abnormal spinal curvature, and persistent ear infections. [5]
