Triple-Negative Breast Cancer – What to Know

Stages of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

Depending on the location, size, and progression of the tumor, triple-negative breast cancer can be divided into 5 stages. These include:

– Stage 0: Cancer cells are present in one area of the breast, such as a lobule or duct. There are no signs of progressing into surrounding tissue.

– Stage 1: Cancer cells are still localized. However, there are certain signs of local growth.

– Stage 2: Cancer cells are still in a limited area of the breast. However, the tumor may be bigger in size.

– Stage 3: The tumor grows bigger and has spread to the lymph system.

– Stage 4: Cancer cells have spread beyond the breast and surrounding lymph nodes into other tissues and organs of the body. [2]
