Bacterial tonsillitis
Bacterial tonsillitis mostly affects children between the ages of 5 to 15 years. Studies show that between 15 to 30% of tonsillitis occur due to bacteria. The most common bacteria responsible for the condition is strep bacteria. Your doctor may prescribe antibiotics to treat bacterial tonsillitis. Aside from antibiotics, the same treatments are used to treat both bacterial and viral tonsillitis.
