15 Strep Throat Symptoms

If there is one thing most people dread, it is a sore throat. It is that kind of cold-caused ailment that renders the throat all sore, irritated and achy. To swallow even the minutest substance like saliva becomes a huge problem. An ailment that is more like a sore throat but more severe than sore throat is strep throat. Strep throat is a disease caused by a bacterial infection called streptococcus. Also referred to as streptococcal sore throat, it is an infection of the throat and tonsils that leaves the mouth all sore, swollen and inflamed. This ailment is found mostly in children between the ages of 5-15.

Nevertheless, there have been cases of adults battling with it too. How do you know if you have this disease? Take a look at the symptoms highlighted below.

1A Fever of 101℉ or Higher

Having a fever can be one of the symptoms of strep throat, especially when it comes to children. The body has a normal temperature of 37 ℃, but when something unusual and out of the ordinary is going on in your body, your body responds and tries to fight the infections by having an increase in its temperature. Fever is a temporary increase in the body’s temperature which can be 39.4 ℃ or even higher. This causes the body to sweat beyond normal, and sometimes, chills and shivers are associated with fever despite the hotness of the body. [1]
