Tension Headache – Symptoms & Causes

Sensitivity to Sounds or Lights

People with tension headaches tend to experience heightened sensitivity to loud sounds (phonophobia) or bright lights (photophobia). Keep in mind that they only have one of these conditions, not both at the same time. This is caused by the inflammation of your brain areas due to the triggers. As a result, some environmental factors would stimulate these parts and lead to sensitivity. These signs might last for a few days even when you are not exposed to light or sound sources. Photophobia would affect your ability to participate in social activities, while phonophobia would make you more susceptible to loud noises from fire alarms, speakers, TV, or smartphones. [3]
