Symptoms of Fifth Disease in Adults
Though the fifth disease often affects children, it would also happen in adults. Just like with kids, the symptoms of this condition in adults are almost mild. Typical signs include swelling and joint pain. A mild rash could appear, but it is not always present. Certain people even do not show any symptoms. OTC pain medication is the most common treatment for the fifth disease in adults. They can help relieve joint pain and alleviate the swelling. Most symptoms can improve on their own after 1 or 2 weeks, but more severe cases can persist for a few months.[6]
