Survival Rates by Types of Leukemia
People with different forms of leukemia may have different survival rates. Below are the 5-year relative survival rates for the most common types:
– Acute lymphocytic leukemia: the survival rates are quite even in all age groups. The relative survival rate for all age groups is around 70 percent.
– Acute myeloid leukemia: the relative 5-year survival rate for all age groups is around 29.5 percent.
– Chronic myeloid leukemia: the relative 5-year survival rate for all age groups is around 70.6 percent. This form is more common in people older than 55 years old.
– Chronic lymphocytic leukemia: the relative 5-year survival rate for all age groups is around 87.2 percent. This form is more common in people older than 55 years old.
– Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia: the 5-year survival rate for people with this form can vary, depending on the subtype. The measures for people with chronic myelomonocytic-1 and -2 are 20 percent and 10 percent, respectively. [5]
