Latest studies suggest that the 5-year survival rate for all forms of leukemia is around 61.4 percent. This cancer is more prevalent in people older than 55 years old. The median age at diagnosis is around 66 years old. It is also one of the most common types of cancer in people younger than 20 years old. Overall, younger people tend to have higher survival rates than older people. Specific survival rates of leukemia by age are as follow:
– Under 20 years old: 97.8 percent
– 20 to 34 years old: 97.4 percent
– 35 to 44 years old: 97.7 percent
– 45 to 54 years old: 94.5 percent
– 55 to 64 years old: 87.4 percent
– 65 to 74 years old: 76.9 percent
