The survival rates of people with leukemia can vary a lot, depending on many factors. Older people have weaker immune systems, making them more vulnerable to cancerous cells. Therefore, younger people tend to have better chance of surviving. Other decisive factors include tobacco consumption, form of leukemia you have, time of diagnosis, a family history of leukemia and blood conditions, the spread and progression of the tumors, blood cell count, the response of the body to treatment, chromosome mutations, exposure to some chemicals, such as petrochemicals and benzene, or exposure some forms of radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
