Sinus Infection- Causes and Risk Factors

Acute Sinusitis

This type is the shortest in duration, often lasting about a week to 10 days. It is usually viral, except in a few cases of bacterial infection. When the cause of acute sinusitis is bacterial, it might take much longer to go away (about 4 weeks). Acute sinusitis can be caused by the common cold, as is usually the case. However, seasonal allergies can also cause it.
