What’s the Rarest Blood Type?

Main Components of Blood

Blood consists of the following four main components:

– Plasma: Up to 55 percent of blood is plasma. It mainly contains water and other substances, such as vitamins, fats, minerals, proteins, hormones, and glucose.

– Red blood cells are responsible for carrying oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body

– White blood cells are part of the immune system to protect the body against infections

– Platelets may interact with clotting proteins to stop bleeding

Plasma mainly contains water absorbed from fluid and food in the intestines, while platelets, white blood cells, and red blood cells are produced in the bone marrow. [1]
