Surgery
If nonsurgical treatments are not effective, surgery might be recommended. Many people recover fully after undergoing rotator cuff surgery. Arthroscopy is the most noninvasive option. It creates 2 or 3 small cuts around the shoulder, through which different instruments can be inserted. Based on the images from the camera, a doctor would repair damaged tissues. In most cases of rotator cuff tendinitis, open shoulder surgery is not necessary. Nevertheless, a large tear in the tendon might need this method to repair the injury. After the procedure, physical therapy and rest are important to improve the range of motion and restore muscle strength. [9]
