Treatment Options for Rheumatoid Nodules
Rheumatoid nodules would become bigger or smaller over time. Some may even disappear gradually. Currently, it is impossible to know exactly whether they will go away or change in the future. Most cases are harmless and do not require medical treatments. Common options for rheumatoid arthritis, such as TNF blockers or DMARDs, are not effective in removing rheumatoid nodules. You typically need medical attention when these nodules lead to ulceration or infection. Studies have suggested that the use of rituximab may help reduce the size of these growths in 8 to 10 months.
