Retrolisthesis – Types, Causes, and Symptoms

What is Retrolisthesis?

Retrolisthesis is a joint issue that happens when a single vertebra of the back slips underneath or backward along a disc. This condition is the opposite of spondylolisthesis. A vertebra is a bony disc that forms the vertebrae, a group of bones forming the backbone. A cushion of intervertebral discs helps separate each vertebra. Retrolisthesis basically occurs in your shoulder and neck area when there is a movement of more than 2 mm. In some cases, it is also possible for the condition to appear in the thoracic spine or center part of the spine. [1]
