Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis

Diagnosis

Diagnostic test for nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) involves a thorough examination of the patient for symptoms of the disease. A background check into their medical history is also helpful to determine if the patient had been exposed to a GBCA during MRI if they have advanced kidney disease. A skin biopsy may be carried out as part of the diagnosis, especially when the doctor has reasons to believe that the patient has nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. A series of other tests could be run to exclude the possibility of other diseases that are similar to NSF. [5]
