Menometrorrhagia – Symptoms, Causes & Treatment

Lack of Ovulation

Ovulation is a part of the menstrual cycle. It happens when an egg is released from the ovary. When you do not ovulate as usual or have an anovulatory cycle, your uterine lining would keep growing until it is forced to shed. This leads to an absence of a menstrual period or abnormal cycle. The cause is more common in those women who are near their menopause and adolescents right after the beginning of their menstruation. Polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS can also trigger a lack of ovulation and increase the risk of menometrorrhagia. [5]
