Plaque Psoriasis

Plaque psoriasis is the most common type of psoriasis that accounts for more than 80 percent of reported cases. It typically causes red, thick skin spots, usually with a white or silver scaly layer. Commonly affected areas include the scalp, lower back, knees, and elbows. The diameter of these spots may range between 1 and 10 centimeters, but can be bigger and cover more area. Avoid scratching affected skin patches to prevent symptoms from becoming worse. A lack of sleep and stress are common triggers of this form. To ease plaque psoriasis, you may apply moisturizers, OTC cortisone creams, topical retinoids, or take proper medications to reduce inflammation. [2]
