Living with Crohn’s disease Recognizing and Managing Flares

Symptoms of Crohn’s Disease Flares

Depending on the affected parts of the digestive system and severity, flare symptoms of Crohn’s disease can vary. Common signs include fever, joint pain, loss of appetite, fatigue, weight loss, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramping and pain, bloody stool, diarrhea, as well as urgent or frequent bowel movements. These problems may become worse when the condition progresses. However, having a flare does not necessarily mean that Crohn’s disease is becoming worse. Consult your doctor to find out whether it is caused by an infection or a body’s response to antibiotic use, stress, or medications. [3]
