How Depression Affects Your Body

Depression and Immune System

There is a close tie between depression and the immune system. Depression could negatively affect the immune system, causing increased susceptibility to infections and diseases. On the other side, depression could also be the result of immune system dysregulation, abnormalities, and malfunction. Being ill or sick for a long time could trigger mood disorders as well such as depression. According to the mice experiment survey published on Neuron, it was found that an immune response releases inflammatory proteins when repeatedly putting mice in a stressful environment. These inflammatory proteins induce neural inflammation, causing brain impairment and depression. [4]
