Ways to Raise an Inclusive Child

Avoid Stereotypes

Stereotypes may lead to unconscious bias or prejudice over time. Therefore, it is important for parents to help their children avoid applying the characteristics of a few people to the whole group. The key is to teach them understand the differences between a group and individual. For instance, a common gender stereotype is that men should be strong and not show their weak emotions. This is totally wrong. Show your children that everyone can cry and seek for help if they need, regardless of their gender. Try to find as many stereotype examples as you can and challenge these ideas to let your children develop their mental aspects. [1]
