Endocrine System Hormones
Below is a list of some hormones in the body and the endocrine glands that release them:
– Adrenaline (adrenal): to increase metabolism, heart rate, and blood pressure in response to stress
– Cortisol (adrenal): to control stress response
– Aldosterone (adrenal): to ensure a balance of water and salt
– DHEA (adrenal): to help with the growth of body hair and production of odor during puberty
– Estrogen (ovary): to help with the production of sperm, develop female features, maintain pregnancy, and control the menstrual cycle
– Progesterone (ovary): aid in the preparation for pregnancy
– Insulin (pancreas): to lower levels of blood glucose
– Glucagon (pancreas): to increase blood glucose levels
– FSH (pituitary): to regulate the production of sperm and eggs
