OTC Medications & Surgery
Some OTC medications may help ease inflammation and pain associated with foot pain. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as naproxen sodium, ibuprofen, and aspirin, can target both inflammation and pain, while acetaminophen can only ease pain. These drugs are especially effective for foot pain caused by gout, bursitis, or arthritis. They also work if you have tired or swollen feet. It is easy to purchase these medications over the counter. Take them with a glass of milk or food and avoid consuming alcohol. [6]
If your foot pain is caused by bunions and if it does not improve with home remedies, your doctor may suggest a surgical procedure. Otherwise, it would lead to further complications, such as foot deformity, reduce mobility, or persistent pain. The main purpose is to cut off the bunion. The surgeon would also drill some holes and then anchor the bones with a mesh, which would be tightened to help correct your bone movements. [7]
