Five Main Types of Warts

Common Warts

Common warts, also known as verruca vulgaris, are raised firm bumps with pebble-textured and rough surfaces. This would show up in any body part, but some commonly affected areas include knees, elbows, fingers, and knuckles. Broken skin areas tend to be more vulnerable to this type of wart. People with common warts often have visible clotted blood vessels, which look like darkened and small patches. These are also called “seed warts”. While you are most likely to notice them around the nails or hands, they would spread easily when you touch other body parts. [2]
